Bonjour
Parents,
We
can’t believe that it is already May!
The children continue to work hard and be successful. It’s wonderful to see how they’ve all grown
academically and socially.
This
month our main unit will continue to be about DRAGONS! This will be done in French, in English, in
art and some math activities.
Here’s
what we will be learning this month….
Mathématiques: We will be continuing with double digit subtraction
with regrouping and then move on to double digit addition with regrouping. An information sheet will be sent home on how
we’re doing subtraction and addition with regrouping. We will continue with regular math routines.
ELA: We will be focusing on our dragon unit.
The unit will finish off with a fun “dragon diner” for all of the little
dragons in the class. ;-) (Date
TBA). We will start “Literature Circles”
which will conclude with a final project once we are done. We will continue with regular ELA routines.
Français: We will finish our unit on “le printemps”
and we will start “les dragons”. We will work on the French sounds “am, em, im”
and will continue with regular class routines.
Sciences humaines: We will start a unit entitled
“la communauté canadienne”. We will locate Canada on a world map, discuss the
number of provinces and territories and the capital. The students will also
work together in groups to complete a puzzle of Canada.
Sciences: We will continue with “la croissance et
les changements chez les animaux”. We will discuss various types of animals and
their life cycle.
*We will be discussing constant
and changing characteristics of humans as they grow and develop to go with our
unit “la croissance et les changements”. We will do a fun “Qui suis-je”
activity, where the students will observe and guess which baby picture belongs
to which student, according to certain characteristics, such as eye colour,
hair colour, etc. Please send a baby
picture to school with your child by Friday, May 10.
Merci!
Have a
great month!
