Bonjour
Parents!
Happy
spring! It’s great to see everyone back
and we hope that you had a good spring break!
This month we will finish our legends and
then our main unit will be about DRAGONS!
This will be done in French, in English, in art and some math
activities.
Here’s
what we will be learning this month….
Mathématiques: We will be mainly focusing on double
digit addition and then onto double digit subtraction with regrouping. An informational sheet regarding subtraction
with regrouping will be sent home. Extra
pages will also be sent home once the children have had many opportunities to
practice it in class. We will continue
with regular math routines.
ELA: We will be finishing our unit on legends and
then doing some spring activities. Once
that is finished, we will start our dragon unit which will continue into May.
The unit will finish off with a fun “dragon diner” for all of the little
dragons in the class. ;-) We will also
start “Literature Circles” (more information will be sent home when it’s time
to start them). We will continue with
regular ELA routines.
Français: We will be doing some spring (“le
printemps”) activities and start “les dragons”.
We will work on the French sounds “ui, elle, ez, am” and will continue
with regular class routines.
Sciences: We will continue our unit on “La
croissance et les changements chez les animaux” (Growth and Changes in
Animals). We will listen to the song “Je suis une pizza” and classify food
items according to if they derive from plants or animals. We will also name
different types of animals such as reptiles, insects, fish, amphibians,
mammals, and birds.
Sciences Humaines: We will be continuing with
“Les autochtones”. We will learn Cree vocabulary words, read
stories, sing songs and watch videos. We will discuss clothing, food,
ceremonies, transportation, hunting, and important symbols.
*Just a
quick note to please remind your child to leave his/her toys and stuffed
animals at home, as some of them are getting lost and becoming a bit of a
distraction. Thanks!
Have a
great month!
