March Newsletter

MARCH NEWSLETTER

Bonjour Parents,

The shortest, yet busiest month, has come to an end!  We had many class and school activities during the month that kept us very busy.  The children worked really hard and had a great time with all the festivities.

Thank you to the volunteers who provided snack for our V-day party and helped out with in class activities.

Here’s what’s in store for this month…

E.L.A. – We will continue with our unit on Indigenous Legends.  We will be reading legends, talking about the components of a legend and then it’ll be the children’s turn to write a legend on their own.  We will continue with regular class routines.

Sciences Humaines – We will be continuing with “Les autochtones”.  We will learn Cree vocabulary words, read stories, sing songs and watch videos. We will discuss clothing, food, ceremonies, transportation, hunting, and important symbols.

Sciences de la nature - We will be starting a new science unit entitled “La croissance et les changements chez les animaux” (Growth and Changes in Animals). We will discuss the 4 food groups and classify food items that are healthy/unhealthy. We will also listen to the song “Je suis une pizza” and classify food items according to if they derive from plants or animals.

Français – We will conclude our unit on “l’hiver”. We will construct a winter animal out of plasticine, write several sentences describing it and play a game called “Qui suis-je?” (Who am I?). We will be concentrating on some more writing activities to increase French writing independence. We will work on the French sounds ui, elle and ez. Regular class routines will continue.

Mathématiques – We will continue with double digit subtraction without regrouping and then move on to addition without regrouping.  Usually the addition comes easier than the subtraction so it’ll be an easier transition than vice versa.  We will continue with regular class routines.
Have a great month!

Merci,
