Bonjour! Happy New Year! Welcome back to school. I hope that everyone had a nice holiday, full
of cheer, family, friends and fun.
Here’s
what’s happening this month…
E.L.A.:
We will be studying the author Jan Brett.
She is an author and illustrator with a phenomenal imagination and
creative flare. We will also be
concentrating on learning about adjectives.
We will continue regular class routines.
Français: We will be doing some activities about winter
(l’hiver). We will practice winter vocabulary words, read poems and stories, do
some creative writing, and play games. We will work on the sounds oi, ei, ai,
and ph. We will also continue regular class routines.
Sciences de la nature: We will continue with our unit «La position
et le mouvement». We will describe the position of
stationary objects using prepositions such as on, under, above, below, around,
between, beside, in, etc. We will also describe the motion of various objects
and living things.
Sciences Humaines: We will continue with our unit «Ma
Communauté». We will describe our local community, locate it on a map of Canada
and identify natural resources.
Mathématiques: Our main focus this month will be learning
about money. We will also be doing a
unit called “Mitten Math”. This unit
encompasses a great variety of concepts such as probability, adding,
subtracting, number sense, money, graphing, word problems, patterning,
measuring, etc. There are also great
math literacy activities that are part of this unit. We will continue regular class
routines and activities.
Thank
you and have a great month.
